Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Lucta mobile application and website (together, the “Service”) operated by Lucta (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Lucta is a competitive running league based in London. The London ladder is free to use: runners who connect a Strava account are placed into divisions of up to 20 runners for each 2-week round, and total outdoor running distance in London, verified via Strava, decides league position. Top finishers move up a division and bottom finishers move down. There is no entry fee for the ladder and no cash prizes anywhere in the Service. Lucta Pro is an optional paid subscription, described in section 4, that adds private leagues and other extras; it does not change how the ladder works.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• To compete in the London ladder you must be able to run outdoors in Greater London. Private leagues under Lucta Pro accept outdoor runs from anywhere.
• You must have a valid Strava account to participate in leagues.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and providing accurate information. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Cost and Lucta Pro subscription

• The London ladder is free to use. There is no entry fee, and you never need to pay to compete in it. Pro buys no advantage in the ladder.
• Lucta Pro is an optional, auto-renewing monthly subscription bought through Apple's in-app purchase in the iOS app. The price, the billing period and any introductory free trial are shown in the app before you buy. Your Apple ID is charged when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
• Your subscription renews automatically for the same period at the price shown unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel at any time in your App Store subscription settings; cancelling stops the next renewal and Pro stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Apple handles billing, receipts and refunds under its own terms. We never see or store your card details.
• If your Pro subscription ends, you keep your place in any private league that is already running, including leagues you host, until it finishes. Until you subscribe again you cannot create or join a new private league, and the PRO mark is removed from your name.
• We may add, change or withdraw Pro features, and change the price for future periods. Price changes are announced in advance and, where Apple requires it, need your agreement before they apply.

5. League rules

The London ladder

• Runners with a connected Strava account are placed into leagues of up to 20 runners each round.
• Leagues operate on a ladder system with promotion and relegation.
• Standings are based on total eligible outdoor distance during the active 2-week round.
• Top 3 finishers move to the next division up.
• Bottom 3 finishers move to the division below unless they are already in the lowest division.

Private leagues (Lucta Pro)

• A Pro member may host a private league of up to 20 runners, or a head-to-head of two, choose one scoring format for it, and share a six-character invite code or link.
• Everyone in a private league needs an active Lucta Pro subscription to join, the host included.
• Only outdoor runs recorded on Strava count. Runs may start anywhere in the world. Treadmill, manual and edited activities are excluded, and only runs completed after you join count.
• The host may lock joins, rename the league, remove a runner, regenerate the code or end the league early. The host cannot leave; ending the league settles it.
• A runner may host up to 3 live leagues and be in up to 6 at once.
• When a league ends its final table is frozen. Private leagues are for bragging rights only: no cash, no prizes, no stakes and no forfeits.

6. No prizes

Lucta awards no cash prizes, no money, and no items of monetary value. The only outcome of a round is your ranking and your promotion, relegation, or retention within the division ladder. This applies equally to private leagues under Lucta Pro: the only outcome is the final table.

We reserve the right to adjust league sizes and league rules. Changes will be communicated in advance where reasonably possible.

7. Run eligibility

For the London ladder, only outdoor running activities recorded on Strava and started within Greater London count. The following are excluded:

• Treadmill or indoor runs
• Manual or edited Strava activities
• Runs started outside Greater London (ladder only)
• Activities completed outside the active 2-week round

Private leagues follow the same rules, except that runs may start anywhere in the world.

We may disqualify runs or accounts that we reasonably believe involve fraud, manipulation, or violation of these rules.

8. Strava integration

The Service requires a connected Strava account. We access your activity data solely for verifying and ranking league runs. Your use of Strava is subject to Strava's own terms.

9. Fair play

GPS spoofing, fake activities, multiple accounts, or any method to gain an unfair advantage will result in disqualification and account termination.

10. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is”. You participate in running activities at your own risk. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid for Lucta Pro, through Apple, in the 12 months before the claim arose, or nothing if you have not paid for Pro. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the app settings. Deletion is permanent and removes your data, subject to legal retention requirements. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in your App Store subscription settings first.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
