Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Lucta mobile application and website (together, the “Service”) operated by Lucta (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Lucta is a competitive running league based in London. Members subscribe for a monthly fee and are placed into divisions of up to 20 runners for each 2-week round. Your total outdoor running distance in London, verified via Strava, determines your league position. Top finishers win cash prizes and move up to higher divisions with stronger prize ladders. Bottom finishers move down to lower divisions.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be based in or able to run in Greater London.
- You must have a valid Strava account to participate in leagues.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and providing accurate information. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Subscription & billing
- Membership costs £19.99/month.
- Billing may be handled through Stripe on web or platform billing on mobile.
- Your subscription automatically renews unless cancelled.
- Manage or cancel through the billing platform used for your subscription.
- Refunds follow the applicable billing platform's refund policies.
5. League rules
- Active members are placed into leagues of up to 20 runners each round.
- Leagues operate on a ladder system with promotion and relegation.
- Standings are based on total eligible outdoor distance during the active 2-week round.
- Top 3 finishers move to the next division up.
- Bottom 3 finishers move to the division below unless they are already in the lowest division.
- Prize amounts vary by division and may change before public launch.
6. Prizes
Prize amounts vary by division:
- Top division: 1st £100, 2nd £50, 3rd £25
- 2nd division: 1st £75, 2nd £35, 3rd £15
- All other divisions: 1st £50, 2nd £20, 3rd £10
We reserve the right to adjust prize amounts, league sizes, and league rules. Changes will be communicated in advance where reasonably possible.
7. Run eligibility
Only outdoor running activities recorded on Strava and started within Greater London count. The following are excluded:
- Treadmill or indoor runs
- Manual or edited Strava activities
- Runs started outside Greater London
- Activities completed outside the active 2-week round
We may disqualify runs or accounts that we reasonably believe involve fraud, manipulation, or violation of these rules.
8. Strava integration
The Service requires a connected Strava account. We access your activity data solely for verifying and ranking league runs. Your use of Strava is subject to Strava's own terms.
9. Payouts
Prize winnings are paid out at the end of each 2-week round via bank transfer or another method we specify. You may need to provide payment details to receive winnings. We aim to process payouts promptly after each round settles but do not guarantee specific timelines.
10. Fair play
GPS spoofing, fake activities, multiple accounts, or any method to gain an unfair advantage will result in disqualification, forfeiture of prizes, and account termination.
11. Limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is”. You participate in running activities at your own risk. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim.
12. Account deletion
You can delete your account at any time through the app settings. Deletion is permanent and removes your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
